What it is
In Category Climb, teams take turns: one player describes words without saying them, and their team shouts the answers. Enough right answers climb the team to a harder category.
Add it to your show
It is one step in your Rundown, like any other game. Add it where you want it to play.
- Open the Rundown tab and press Add.
- Choose Category Climb from the menu. It joins the end of the list and opens on the right.
Set it up
The settings hold your categories, easiest first. Write a category name after a hash mark, then one word per line. Add a bar and the words the clue giver must not say.
You can add a final puzzle, and choose the length of each turn, how many turns each team gets, the points per word, and how many right answers climb a team up.
The Sounds tab picks the sound effect for each moment of the game.
A team is up
Call a team up. The TV shows whose turn it is and the category. One player from that team becomes the clue giver, and only their phone shows the word. Everyone else on the team is told to guess out loud.
Describe it, don't say it
The giver taps Start the clock. The first word appears, with any words they must not say. Only the clue giver's phone ever shows the word. The TV shows the team, the category and the time left, but never the word, so the audience has to listen to the clues. The giver describes it, the team shouts the answer, and the giver taps Got it. Skip moves on to the next word.
The turn is scored
When the clock runs out or you end the turn, the team scores for each word, and a team with enough right answers climbs to the next category, where words are worth more.
Your controls on the Live tab
On the Live tab, Next team calls a team up, Start the clock, Got it and Skip do what the clue giver's phone does, End the turn scores it, and Final puzzle, Next clue, Award the final and Reveal run the final puzzle.
Tip The same keys are on the Host Remote, so you can run Category Climb from a phone or tablet.
How it ends
The TV shows the ladder of categories and which rung each team has reached.
